Wyss Associates, Inc. was formed in 1981 with the purpose of providing landscape architecture and recreation planning services throughout North America. We have a proven track record of working with small and medium sized communities in public outreach, census building, and recreation planning for highly visible education and learning centers, trails, golf courses, parks and open spaces.
Our staff works closely with community leaders and civil servants to prepare plans and visions that meet current expectations and guide future dreams. Our management philosophy is that our clients always know what to expect, and have a clear roadmap to milestones. They understand our services and the outcomes and are never adversely surprised by our findings and recommendations. We accomplish this with good communication skills, professional project management procedures and efficient task production.

Patrick Wyss, FASLA
Patrick is the President and Principal-in-charge of Wyss Associates, Inc. and is responsible for the operations of the firm. Mr. Wyss has a diverse 30-year background in landscape architecture, golf course architecture, land planning and urban design. Pat is an award-winning landscape architect and golf course architect with a strong design background emphasizing site appropriate and environmentally sensitive design solutions.
Pat is CLARB certified and registered in eight states across the United States. Pat is actively involved in the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) where he has served as the national Vice-President and was elected Fellow in 1993. Pat is active in his community; he was previously on the Board of Directors for the Journey Museum, was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as vice-president on the Arts Rapid City Board.
Chris Wehrle
Chris is a South Dakota native with more than 25 years of experience in project design and administration with strengths in site design, construction detailing, specifying, construction administration and master planning, Chris is committed to high quality design, working with clientele and consultants in the design process to produce a project that reflects their vision and input while meeting their bottom line. Chris has a diverse range of experience in a variety of project types. Chris has been an integral part in the design of award winning projects at Wyss Associates and looks forward to the future of the company.
Chris is a part owner of Wyss Associates and assists in the day to day operations of the firm. Chris is a registered landscape architect in the State of Montana and is active in the Rapid City community. He currently serves on the Rapid City Historic Preservation Committee. Previously, Chris has served on the Rapid City Beautification Committee and President of several youth sports in the community.
